Sora

Started the day von Peninnis in a strong south-easterly and bright sunshine. No birds, but a cracking Hummingbird Hawk-moth, one of many around at the moment.

Dropping down below Buzza Hill a Robin-sized bird popped up onto a bush. I'd just got my bins on it when it flitted up to flash the tail-pattern of a Bluethroat. Unfortunately it didn't reappear, but a great start to the day. As I waited 2 Blackcap, a Chiffchaff and a Goldcrest moved through the quarry.

Onto the boat to Tresco, where a swift yomp got us first to the hide and prime spot to look for the Sora found yesterday. A 20 min wait and the bird emerged from the reeds to show superbly all day, occasionally chased by a Moorhen.

A good search of Tresco revealed little more than a Great Spotted Woodpecker and a calling Yellow-browed Warbler, a Peregrine made a few fly-overs.

Back on St Mary's a search of Peninnis revealed little, then news that the 2 Cattle Egret had been re-found at Porthellick broke. Thanks to Robin we were there in double-quick time, passing a calling Yellow-browed Warbler on the way to the hide.
