Caspian

No sign of the Turtle Dove for me in Hugh Town this morning, but a Black Redstart showed well at Porthcressa before we headed off to St Martin's.

Black Redstart
Disappointing on St Martin's, with no sign of the Vireo and just a few common migrants. It was made worse by news of a Caspian Tern back on St Mary's and 3 hours before the first boat back.

Luckily the bird hung on and after a mad dash it was ticked on the beach at Porthellick. What a superb bird!

Another fruitless search for the pipit followed before a quick seawatch that produced 2 Balearic and 4 Manx Shearwater on a pretty wild sea.
