My first seawatch for ages this morning. Up early and at Whitburn Obs for 05.30. Some excellent birds over a calm sea, Arctic Skua, Bonxie, Great Northern Diver and Avocet were the star birds. The Avocet was only the second ever past the Obs. A goods supporting cast with 60+ Manx Shearwater and loads of Sandwich Tern. The full selection on Paul's Blog.
All very quiet in Gateshead, but Dingy Skipper at Burdon Moor were new for the year.
Could u listen to tree pipit calls I heard today to confirm it's a tree pipit?
ReplyDeleteIt would be under" rambling walker in gateshead. "
ReplyDeleteSounds pretty good, but must admit I have cloth ears. Could do with a longer clip. Your description of the bird sounds good for Tree Pipit.
ReplyDeleteI had the bird through binoculars too,and I'm not too sure a meadow pipit sounds like that? Plus where it was in a tree, sound very much like chaffinch with a different endings.yes true I could have recorded longer but it was a toss between recording or seeing it.lol.
ReplyDeleteThink I'll go back tommorrow hopefully high number of insects will keep it around.
Cheers rob
