Up early this morning to get to South Gare for 06.30 to spend 5 hours not seeing the White-rumped Sandpiper. I did see hundreds of Dunlin and Sanderling, 30+ Knot, 2 Bar-tailed and 6 Black-tailed Godwit. The stars were 2 Merlin hunting over the beach, scattering the waders and Starling.

Back in Gateshead I got a belated Gateshead year tick with 2 Green Sandpiper at Shibdon where a single Black-tailed Godwit was hanging on. An evening visit to Timber Beach as the tide was rising gave a Whimbrel, 2 Common Sandpiper, a Dunlin and 6 Common Tern.
