With the nice weather I was expecting Watergate to be over-run with dog walkers and littered with beer cans and barbeque remains. Surprisingly the park was almost deserted. Just a singing Reed Warbler and 20+ Tufted Duck, but a pleasant walk.

Despite last night's torrential rain Lamesley remains bone dry and bird free. From the bridge 6+ male Banded Demoiselle were dancing over the water.

A text from Michael F saying that he had a Mediterranean Gull at Timber Beach had me arrive just in time to see its arse-end disappear up river. It beat me to Shibdon where it was showing well in front of the hide. The same bird as yesterday, 1st summer is a rare plumage in Gateshead. The Black-tailed Godwit was still feeding at the back of the pond.
