Despite the cold weather, migrants have continued to trickle in. With small groups of Sand Martin passing north the first significant group was 30+ over Lamesley on the 27th and 10+ at Swalwell along with the first Swallow on the 29th. After the first Wheatear at Burdon Moor there have been no more until a single today, but Stonechat have continued to move through in ones and twos. The first Gateshead Little Ringed Plover appeared on the 30th briefly, with 2 today.

At Sunderland Academy the Water Pipit has transformed into Summer plumage and is looking stunning, but unwilling to pose for photos. A White Wagtail was also there today.
