Dowitcher

Still quiet around Gateshead this morning, so I headed up to Cresswell to try for some shots of the Long-billed Dowitcher. Present for over 5 months, it has always shown, but normally too far away for photos. It has recently taken to feeding at the north end of the pond and today didn't disappoint, showing at close range just north of the causeway. If only the weather was better, grey and raining, but I'm pretty happy with what I got. Also present were 5 White Wagtail and 2 Wheatear.

At East Chevington a pair of Marsh Harrier gave a tremendous display as they sky-danced for almost an hour, high over the south pool.
