An optimistic start up in the hills proved fruitless, so I headed to the coast. East Chevington held the same as last week with a Red-necked Grebe, Black-throated Diver, 2 Slavonian Grebe and 3 Long-tailed Duck. Just before I left the diver took off and headed south over my head.

Further south were 2 Pintail at Druridge and an Avocet at Cresswell.
Around Gateshead the Ruff was at Shibdon and Steve's 2 Stonechat still at Burdon Moor.

Just by the brick wall. I didn't see them yesterday or today, so they may have moved through. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteCheers do stonechats tend to use burden moor as a stop off point? Sorry I'm new to the area and I don't really know it's history, but from looking at blogs from the past few years I notice stonechats visit for a few days then move on is this the case?

They did breed before the hard winters, but have just been seen for a couple of days in early spring for the last 3 years. Still time yet for some more.
ReplyDeleteYeah true, it's a shame though, there's seems to be suitable habitat for them in the area. Fingers crossed.
